Taking off shoes, sandals, socks when you visit temples, pagodas and other areas where shoes are not allowed. You should follow local tourist guide’s instructions to know where you must take off the shoes.
However, some temples allow you to wear shoes into the temple yard, not allowed inside temple. In most of temples, you have to take off shoes from the temple gate.
When visiting one family in Myanmar, you should also put your shoes outside their house but you can wear socks. Therefore, you should wear shoes or sandals that taken on or taken off easily. You can bring wet tissues to clean your feet before wearing shoes or sandals again. That is the reason why Myanmar people often wear flip-flops, slippers or sandals.Using both hands

At some locations, especially formal or holy areas inside temples, women are not allowed to be there. You should check with the local tourist guide to ensure whether you stand at the right areas. Women also should not sit on the top of cars, house roofs, boat roofs, etc... Do it like they are siting on the head of others. Women are also not allowed to touch or shake hands with monks in any case. If you accidentally touch them, you should apologize and the monks would definitely feel guilty when they are touched.
